VINI ZABÙ – KTM: AL SIBIU CYCLING TOUR RICCARDO STACCHIOTTI CONQUISTA IL PRIMO PODIO STAGIONALE

E’ l’ultimo rinforzo della Vini Zabù – KTM Riccardo Stacchiotti a conquistare nella 2^ tappa del Sibiu Cycling Tour il primo podio stagionale per la squadra diretta in Romania da Francesco Frassi.

Il corridore marchigiano faceva parte di un gruppetto di 35 corridori che hanno attaccato lungo la discesa di Calugarul a 25 km dall’arrivo di Sibiu sotto l’impulso della Bora – Hansgrohe del leader della classifica generale Patrick Konrad.

Di questa azione facevano parte quasi tutti i corridori della Vini Zabù – KTM che sono rimasti stabilmente nelle prime posizioni del gruppo con Matteo Busato che ha anche provato ad accelerare per sorprendere il gruppo a 2 km dall’arrivo venendo ripreso ai -800 metri.

Stacchiotti si è piazzato a ruota di Pascal Ackermann ma nulla ha potuto contro il tedesco che si è imposto davanti a Rudy Barbier e al nostro corridore. 

“La pioggia ha reso la tappa molto dura – racconta il corridore marchigiano – costringendoci a rimanere sempre nelle posizioni d’avanguardia del gruppo rimanendo sempre molto compatti. Sull’ultima salita i miei compagni di squadra sono stati eccezionali nel tenermi davanti anche perchè conoscevamo le insidie della discesa ed è lì che si è spezzato il gruppo. Nel finale ho preso la ruota di Ackermann ma quando è partito non si poteva fare meglio. Sono contento, come inizio è ottimo e devo fare un ulteriore ringraziamento alla squadra perchè abbiamo corso davvero bene per tutti i 180 km odierni”.

In classifica generale non ci sono cambiamenti significativi con Patrick Konrad sempre in maglia gialla e Luca Wackermann in 5^ posizione.

Domani giornata finale del Sibiu Cycling Tour con doppio impegno, al mattino una cronoscalata di 12.5 km mentre nel tardo pomeriggio una nuova chance per i velocisti in quel di Sibiu

SIBIU CYCLING TOUR: RICCARDO STACCHIOTTI ACHIEVES THE FIRST PODIUM OF 2020

The last arrival at team Vini Zabù – KTM Riccardo Stacchiotti achieves the first podium of the season in the 2nd stage of the Sibiu Cycling Tour.

The rider directed by Francesco Frassi was in group of 35 riders after that an attack launched by Bora Hangsrohe, the team of the Yellow Jersey, on the downhill of Calugarul with 25 kms to go.

In this group almost the whole Vini Zabù – KTM team was represented and with 2 kms to go Matteo Busato tried to anticipate the sprinters but his attack ended with 800 metres to go.

Stacchiotti took the wheel of Pascal Ackermann but he couldn’t overtake him and he had to settle with the 3rd place behind also Rudy Barbier.

“The rain made the stage very difficult – Stacchiotti says – as we were forced to stay always focused in the first part of the peloton. On the last climb my team mates were excellent as they managed to keep me away from troubles in the following dangerous downhill where the peloton splitted. I took the wheel of Ackermann but when he launched his sprint it was clear that he was the strongest one today. I’m very happy, it’s a great start for me and I have to thank once more my team as we all did an excellent job along the 180 kms of the stage”.

No changes in the top places of the general classification where Luca Wackermann still sits in 5th place with Patrick Konrad in Yellow Jersey.

Tomorrow final day of the Sibiu Cycling Tour with a double effort for the riders who will have to face in the morning an uphill time trial of 12.5 kms and in the late afternoon a sprinters stage in Sibiu
